How To Build Confidence and Empower Yourself
Patricia Love

Confidence is something we all want. But most of us lack it. We worry about our appearance, our job performance, our relationships, and even our health.

It doesn’t have to be this way. In fact, you can learn how to build confidence in yourself.

Where Confidence Comes From

Self-confidence can come from external factors, such as people praising you. However, true confidence comes from inside of you.

Your partner, your family, your colleagues – their opinions are valuable, of course, but they are not always enough. Ultimately, it is up to you to build it for yourself.

If you want to develop greater self-confidence, start by looking inward. Think about what makes you confident and what makes you self-conscious. Then take action to change those things.

For example, if you are someone who frequently worries about making mistakes, try taking risks. If you tend to doubt your abilities, challenge yourself to learn something new. That is how people become confident.

You can start to take charge of your thoughts, body language, and actions by changing how you act and react. This will help you become more confident because you won’t let negative beliefs and experiences stop you from doing what you want to do.

Ways to Build Confidence in Yourself, Immediately

Confidence is a key component of success. It’s the fuel that keeps you going when things get tough, and it’s what makes you feel good about yourself. But confidence can be hard to build because we often don’t know how to do it or where to start.

Here are some ways to build positive thinking.

1. Be honest with yourself

When you look at yourself objectively, you can see where you need to make changes. Don’t ignore these weaknesses. Instead, focus on them and work to improve them.

Stop the negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations. For example, you can say, “I am strong,” instead of, “I am weak.” Or, “I am smart,” instead of “I am stupid.”

2. Get rid of negative habits

Negative habits like procrastination, overthinking, and worrying can cause low self-esteem.

3. Focus on what you can control

I cannot stress this enough. Your mental health is 100% under your own control. So, instead of focusing on all the things you can’t control, focus on what you can.

4. Learn new skills

The best way to boost your confidence is to learn new skills. The more you master something, the more confident you’ll feel.

5. Visualize your confidence

We all have an ideal version of our future selves. They are someone who oozes confident, positive energy. They have all they require to succeed, and they feel great about themselves.

So imagine that person. What type of clothes do they like to wear? How do they move? How do they talk? What kind of clothes do they wear?

Now, visualize that image every day. See yourself being successful, achieving your dreams, and feeling amazing!

Everyone deserves to live life confidently. So, start building your confidence levels today.

Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.”

Patricia’s own story of trauma, death, and a slew of bad decisions as a young adult, forced her to flip her own inner script, or face alternative consequences. By interrupting and healing the negative behaviors that sabotaged her, she was able to find the courage, and new found energy to move forward in all areas of her life. She did this with the action of five words.
