Why We Need To Empower Our Young Daughters

The world is changing and becoming smart. Considering this, we need to be smart when it comes to raising our daughter’s right. We need to enlighten and prepare our daughters with the best of knowledge and skills. Keep reading to know, why we need to empower our young daughters.

Why We Need To Empower Our Young Daughters

We live in a world today that is increasingly skewed against women. Young girls are taught to be nice and kind, and young boys are raised to be ambitious and aspire to greatness. Boys are excused for ridiculous behavior just because they were born male, and girls are held accountable for even the tiniest transgressions.

Even though many may say that things are a lot better for women now, in reality, we still have a long way to go before we can actually hope for true equality between the two genders.

So you see, young girls today have to face challenges that boys do not even know about. From sexual harassment starting at an alarmingly young age, to discrimination based on their gender, young women are simply expected to shut up and bear with how things are.

Of course, that is not what we would like for our daughters. We must raise them to face these challenges and call out the people who are unjust to them. We must raise our girls to change this world that is to become their tomorrow’s, and we must empower them and remind them they are enough, and that their voices matter.

Why Does The World Need Empowered Young Girls

Empowering our young daughters today is going to yield a generation of empowered women who have the potential to bring about real change. So, By following some simple steps and letting our young girls realize their self worth, we can create an army of powerful and knowledgeable individuals who will shape their own world. It is time there’s a level playing ground for all genders, and empowered young girls can help make that happen.

Here are some of the ways an empowered woman can change her life, and in turn, the world at large.

1. An empowered woman knows what she wants

My generation was brought up being told what we should want from life. A good, profitable career, a doting partner, and children of our own – these are the things that you should aspire for. The women of my generation have been constantly told that these are what makes a successful life. So, Instead of our own self, it was society who dictated what our desires should be. And as a result, many of us are unhappy in the lives that we lead today.

An empowered woman refuses this treatment from others. She does not look at other people to tell her what she should be longing for. In fact, she finds her true needs and desires in her own heart and mind. She knows that the world is limitless, and there is nothing that she is forbidden to want. She knows herself enough to only pursue what she actually enjoys. And in doing so, she lives a fuller, happier life.

2. An empowered woman realizes what she is capable of

Girls in the past have been restricted from following their hearts. especially if society thought their dreams were too big. Whether it was simply wearing trousers in the 1800s, going into space in the 1900s, or demanding equal pay for equal jobs in the 2000s – modern ideas that elevate women have always been frowned upon.

If a young girl is raised being told that these very doable things are beyond her capabilities, she will grow up believing they actually are.

On the contrary, an empowered woman recognizes her true potential. She realizes that there is hardly anything that she could not be or could not do. That she is raised to believe that the world is her oyster. She is brought up fully knowing her strengths, and thus, can achieve more out of her time in this world. We must continually support this in our young daughters growth.

3. It’s time for women to be heard

How many times have you been indirectly told to shut up in a room full of men? A patronising comment about women not understanding business at a party, a slight dismissal of your very logical suggestion at a work meeting, or an insensitive ‘joke’ about your interest in sports – we have all been through it. In these situations, we are always expected to laugh it off, or quiet down. Well, it has been enough of that now. The modern world will not have any of that anymore.

Today’s world needs women that are empowered from a young age. Women who voice their ideas, need to be heard. Regardless of the gender percentage in a room, an empowered woman has the ability to make everyone listen when they have something to offer. They do not laugh away an improper joke meekly, but they call out the people who made the joke.

4. An empowered woman has the courage to stand up for what is right

Like we mentioned earlier, an empowered woman is brave enough to challenge the status quo. This stands true not only for herself but for everyone around her as well. An empowered individual does not stand for injustice and is ready to challenge inequity no matter where it is. She has the heart and mind to stand up for what is right, and make constructive changes all around her. Go here for another empowerment blog

The Final Word

It has now become a necessity to raise our girls differently than what we have been accustom to. It is important to encourage our daughters to voice their feelings from a young age, so, they will not be silenced by society when they grow up into adult women.

Because, we must let our daughters know that they always have more than one option, and educate her on how to choose the right one.

Also, Teaching her how to set boundaries is essential, because this will dictate how she navigates her adult life. But, most of all, we must be a role model for our young girls. Someone that inspires her, and motivates her to follow her heart, is what she needs more than anything.
